RESIDENCE VISA (RS)

They will be issued in favor of people interested in permanently residing in the country. People who have the following reasons qualify for this type of visa:

  • Kinship ties (family reunification through marriage / direct dependency).

  • Investors Law 171-07.

  • Pensioners, Retirees or Rentiers according to Law 171-07.

The Residence Visa (RS) is valid for sixty (60) days and is valid for one (1) single entry . Once in Dominican territory, the beneficiary of this visa must appear before the General Directorate of Immigration to formalize the procedures for their temporary residence, and must complete the additional requirements that it demands, this visa being the first requirement. (Section VI, Article 48, Section (a) Decree No. 631-11, Regulations for the application of the General Migration Law No. 285-04).

 
RESIDENCE VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR FAMILY REUNIFICATION
  • Visa form completed and duly completed by typewriter or in legible print. Available at the headquarters of the consular offices or on the services portal.

  • Visa application letter signed by the beneficiary and addressed to the corresponding consular office, containing name, nationality, place of residence and productive activity to which he or she is dedicated, as well as information on how he or she plans to settle in the country as a spouse or child ( a) from a foreigner legally resident in the DR or from a Dominican, this letter is not legalized or apostilled.

  • One (1) photograph size 4 x 5 centimeters , front and with a white background.

  • Original passport with a minimum validity of Six (06) months.

  • Birth certificate. It must be presented in an original, duly legalized or apostilled, as appropriate. If it is written in a language other than Spanish, it must be translated by a judicial interpreter, legalized by the Consulate of the Dominican Republic or apostilled, as appropriate. The original and the translation, both legalized or apostilled, must be deposited.

  • Certificate of No Criminal Record (Not required for minors) issued (on a date less than 12 months after the application) by the competent authority (federal authority in the case of federated states) of the countries in which you have resided in the last 5 years, duly legalized or apostilled, as appropriate.

  • Marriage Certificate and Birth Certificate of the children , depending on the quality of the person requesting the dependency visa, duly legalized or apostilled, as appropriate.

  • Notarized Declaration certifying the Free Union for a period of no less than two years, in cases where applicable.

  • Medical Certification that the petitioner does not have infectious or contagious diseases.

  • Dominican visas and visas from other countries that are valid or expired.

  • For the guarantor in the DR:

      • Letter of Guarantee Duly Notarized and legalized in the Attorney General's Office of the Republic, which indicates that the person is morally and economically responsible in the territory of the husband/wife or partner/children. This document must be presented by the applicant along with the other documents on the day of their interview at the Dominican Consulate.

      • Documents that demonstrate financial solvency: 1) bank letter(s) from your savings account, checking account or bank certificates, 2) Labor Certification (indicating your date of joining the company, position held in the company, salary), 3) Property titles of your residence, business, farm or land, or vehicle registration if you have them.

      • Interview. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reserves the right to summon the guarantor to complete an interview with an official of the consular directorate.


    REMARK OF INTEREST:

      1. Having completed all the requirements required above DOES NOT MEAN APPROVAL OF THE VISA , but rather indicates that the consulate can accept your request, evaluate it and send it to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who will issue a final decision.

      2. The consular officer cannot decide whether or not to grant you the Residency Visa (RS) until you formally apply and your application is evaluated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Therefore, we strongly advise you NOT to purchase non-refundable airline tickets or make other travel plans until you receive your visa.

      3. The beneficiaries of Residence Visas (RS), once in Dominican territory, have a period of 30 days to appear before the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) to formalize the procedures for their residence or temporary permit, and must complete the additional requirements that this required according to the Regulations for the application of the General Migration Law No. 285-04.

 
RESIDENCE VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR INVESTMENT
    • Visa form completed and duly completed by typewriter or in legible print. Available at the headquarters of the consular offices or on the services portal.

    • Visa application letter signed by the beneficiary and addressed to the corresponding consular office, containing name, nationality, place of residence and productive activity to which he is dedicated, as well as information on how he plans to establish himself in the country as an investor.

    • One (1) photograph size 4 x 5 centimeters , front and with a white background.

    • Original passport with a minimum validity of Six (06) months.

    • Legible photocopy of the Residence Card. (If apply).

    • Birth certificate. It must be presented in an original, duly legalized or apostilled, as appropriate. If it is written in a language other than Spanish, it must be translated by a judicial interpreter, legalized by the Consulate of the Dominican Republic or apostilled, as appropriate. The original and the translation, both legalized or apostilled, must be deposited.

    • Certificate of No Criminal Record (Not required for minors) issued (on a date less than 12 months after the application) by the competent authority (federal authority in the case of federated states) of the countries in which you have resided in the last 5 years, duly legalized or apostilled, as appropriate.

    • Medical Certification that the petitioner does not have contagious infectious diseases.

    • Investor Certificate by the CEI-RD , according to the classification described below:

      • Direct Investors: you must present a copy of the certification from the Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD).

      • Companies that operate under the Free Zone Regime: must present a copy of the certification from the National Council of Free Zones.

      • Investment in Border Development Projects: you must present certification from the National Border Development Council.

      • Investment in Tourism Development Projects: It can be accredited by both the Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD) and the Ministry of Tourism.

    • Dominican visas and visas from other countries that are valid or expired.

    • Documents that demonstrate financial solvency: Bank letter(s) from your savings account, checking account or bank certificates, salary, Title deeds of your residence, business, farm or land, or vehicle registration if you have them.

    • Interview. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reserves the right to summon the guarantor to complete an interview with an official of the consular directorate.

  • Visa application letter signed by the beneficiary and addressed to the corresponding consular office, containing name, nationality, place of residence and productive activity to which he is dedicated, as well as information on how he plans to establish himself in the country as a rentier.

  • One (1) photograph size 4 x 5 centimeters , front and with a white background.

  • Original passport with a minimum validity of Six (06) months.

  • Legible photocopy of the Residence Card. (If apply).

  • Birth certificate. It must be presented in an original, duly legalized or apostilled, as appropriate. If it is written in a language other than Spanish, it must be translated by a judicial interpreter, legalized by the Consulate of the Dominican Republic or apostilled, as appropriate. The original and the translation, both legalized or apostilled, must be deposited.

  • Certificate of No Criminal Record (Not required for minors) issued (on a date less than 12 months after the application) by the competent authority (federal authority in the case of federated states) of the countries in which you have resided in the last 5 years, duly legalized or apostilled, as appropriate.

  • Documents that demonstrate personal investment, made in the country of origin: (copy real estate property titles, Rentista bank account movements with personal investment in your country of origin. Deposit the financial document of the institution from which the accumulated funds come, as specified in Law 171-07 , in its article 1 o Bank certification o Property rental contracts o Certification of financial entities such as stock brokers o Documentation that accredits you as a shareholder or owner of companies from which the income comes. These documents will be. presented in original. Income received from salaries does not apply.

    • NOTE: In order to benefit from the preferential regime established in Law 171-07, Pensioners or Retirees and Foreign Renters must receive a monthly income according to the following scale: The minimum income amount for the Rentier is US $2,000.00 or the equivalent in Dominican pesos.

  • Medical Certification that the petitioner does not have infectious or contagious diseases.

  • Dominican visas and visas from other countries that are valid or expired.

 
RESIDENCE VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR PENSION / RETIREMENT
    • Visa form completed and duly completed by typewriter or in legible print. Available at the headquarters of the consular offices or on the services portal.

    • Visa application letter signed by the beneficiary and addressed to the corresponding consular office, containing name, nationality, place of residence and productive activity to which he or she is dedicated, as well as information on how he or she plans to settle in the country as a pensioner.

    • One (1) photograph size 4 x 5 centimeters , front and with a white background.

    • Original passport with a minimum validity of Six (06) months.

    • Legible photocopy of the Residence Card (If applicable).

    • Birth certificate. It must be presented in an original, duly legalized or apostilled, as appropriate. If it is written in a language other than Spanish, it must be translated by a judicial interpreter, legalized by the Consulate of the Dominican Republic or apostilled, as appropriate. The original and the translation, both legalized or apostilled, must be deposited.

    • Certificate of No Criminal Record (Not required for minors) issued (on a date less than 12 months after the application) by the competent authority (federal authority in the case of federated states) of the countries in which you have resided in the last 5 years, duly legalized or apostilled, as appropriate.

    • Certification from the government, official body or private company of foreign origin, where you provided your services , duly translated into Spanish by a judicial interpreter, with the apostille seal or legalized by the Dominican consulate of the country of origin of the document, as the case may be. Said certification must contain the general data of the applicant, the time he remained in the company, position held and the amount received as a pension.

 

In order to benefit from the preferential regime established in Law 171-07, Pensioners or Retirees and Foreign Renters must receive a monthly income according to the following scale: The minimum income amount for the Pensioner is US $1,500.00 dollars or its equivalent in pesos.

REQUIREMENTS

• Passport valid for a minimum of six (6) months.
• Residence Visa (RS).
• Birth certificate unexteded.
• Four (4) recent photographs, of the same set: two (2) of front and two (2) of right profile, size 2×2, without jewels or accessories and bare ears, with the white background.
• Certificate of No Criminal Record of your country of origin or of the country where you have resided in the last five (5) years.
• Marriage certificate, declaration of singleness or proof of living together, apostilled or legalized.

• Documents proving your financial solvency.
• Submit documents of economic solvency.

 

PROCEDURES TO FOLLOW

1- Enter the DGM service portal. (https://personal.migracion.gob.do).

2- Register your username and password in the system. (If you have previously registered, enter your previous username and password).

3- Service Selection:

3.1- Choose the “APPLICATION LIST” option.
3.2- In the “AVAILABLE SERVICES” option, select the LOCATION-OFFICE where you will receive the service.
3.3- From the “LIST OF SERVICES”, choose the service you will request.
3.4- Complete all the information required in the “INFORMATION QUESTIONNAIRE FOR APPLICANT”.

4- The scanned documents must be in JPG format for the application via web.

5- The medical examination must be carried out within three (3) days after payment (including the day of payment), otherwise you must make the payment again. You must wait (10) ten days to know their results.

6- All documents deposited in the DGM must be original and must be notarized, legalized and apostilled, as appropriate.
